Nesam - Introduction

	This school was started in 1991, with five children, by a mother of disabled child, as an outreach project of the Chennai branch of the spastic society of India. (Now known as Vidya sagar). At that time there was no service available in Arcot for children with multiple disabilities. Families have to travel to Vellore or to Chennai to get special service.
	From march 2000, it has been functioning independently in the name of 'NESAM'
	Now 35 children of varying age group and abilities are given various kinds of training.
	Specially trained 6 semi literate motivated mothers of disabled children along with couple of professionals to train the children. Their training and experience not only help the children at school but also serve the community at large.
	The school not only helps the children to function independently with self confidence but also gives support to their parents
