Nature

Spastic
quadruplegic with mental retardation. All the four limbs areaffected
severely. Noneek control. He is in lying position.Scissoring
of the legs his present. Does not turn or sit on his own. No
experience language. Does not respond to any communications. |

Medical
history : |
| |
The
child was born in a Municipal Hospital. Delivery was normal.
Theere was no birth cry. The child did not open his eyes
or suck cluids. The child was admitted in Children Hospital,
Chennai and was put in incubator for 15 days. |

Training
given at 'Nesam' : |
| |
He
is put is Early Intervention' programme. Physical exercises
are given to improve his neck control, to come to sitting
position, to reduce his scissoring and improve the strenght
of the muscles. |

Group
singing and group play sessions are given to improve his receptive
and expresssive language. |
| |
The
mother is being taught the correct feeding position and feeding
methods of facilitate his swallowing the liquids, semi solids
and solids. |
| |
A toilet chart is maintained and mother is asked to take the
child at regular intervals to create an awareness in
the child, that toileting habits. |
| |
Various
stimuli are presented to the child to improve his visual,
auditory and tactile senses. |
